our mission

It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get back up.” –Vince Lombardi

How we started

Next Up Football Camp was founded by Simon Berk’s active experience in the sport and the belief that all children have the ability to gain confidence from football.

As a youth athlete, Simon played for New Trier High School in Chicago as captain for both football and lacrosse. He attended Fairfield University and was on their first team to compete in the NCAA Tournament. Coaches, team members, and the grit of the sport influenced his community outlook and work ethic through life.

He took this passion straight into teaching and coaching. Simon has taught and coached in various roles for Needham High School, Columbia University, Rye High School, Hackley School, and Byram Hills High School. Through these various communities, Simon has seen the good that athleticism does for the whole child.

A proud father to four daughters and coach to all ages, Simon created Next Up with programming that promotes confidence and skill building for boys and girls throughout New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. From its inception, every Next Up Camp provides scholarships to ensure there is accessibility for all.

At Next Up, professional experience is paired with a genuine passion to do good and help young athletes access skills for their own journey.
